How the Church nearly lost its way over the death of Enoch Powell

Article Abstract:

There has been considerable controversy surrounding the fact that the body of the late politician Enoch Powell lay in state in Westminster Abbey in London, England, the night before his funeral. Many members of the immigrant community in the UK protested at such an honour being accorded to him, as he expressed strong opposition to immigration. This controversy highlights the challenges faced by the Church of England when it must make judgements in the face of political realities.
