There is corruption at every level in India, according to Alexia Stewart, who has been released from prison in Goa, India, after serving 19 months on false drugs charges. She and her boyfriend Gary Carter were arrested in Mar 1998 and charged with possessing 165g of cannabis. They were convicted on Dec 31, 1998, and sentenced to 10 years' imprisonment. It was ruled on appeal that they had been framed by the police officers who arrested them. She believes that she would not feel safe coming to India again.
