'I was an office slave...'

Article Abstract:

UK Students tell of good and bad experiences on work placements, which can be beneficial in finding real work later. Some students, who seek true job experience to make their curriculum vitae look good, consider themselves exploited. One 23-year-old Worcester, UK, law and Italian graduate, Kevin Stark, tells of excellent experience working with Birmingham, UK, barristers in the vacation after his first year of study. A student of physics, Sarah Rosenberg, of Bath, tells of spending four difficult days following an engineer around a car factory, totally bewildered.

Making short work of setting up a home office

Article Abstract:

It is worth making a large investment to set up a small office/home office (SoHo), as it is vital to create an appropriate working environment. It is important to set aside enough space for vital fixed items such as computers and fax machines, and it is good practice to set aside time to reorganize shortly after the office has been set up. Attention must be given to purchasing the right computer, as this is often the most vital piece of equipment in a SoHo.

Article Abstract:

The Inland Revenue investigators, known as 'ghostbusters,' track down by close examination of sub let properties, newspaper advertizements and affluent lifestyles as well as through information supplied by relatives and friends.
