I'm afraid we've taken you off the critical list

Article Abstract:

There are now almost 1 million 'critical illness' insurance policies in operation in the UK, and this sector continues to expand. However, it is important to be aware that insurance companies reject one in five critical illness claims. It is therefore important to ensure that all policy details are read thoroughly, checking whether the policy offers cover for the most serious conditions, such as Aids, rather than those which are more common, such as strokes and cancer.

Shelter for the winter years

Article Abstract:

There are now a growing number of long term care plans available in the UK. These offer insurance which will cover the cost of a nursing or retirement home, or even in some cases pay for nursing care at home. They are purchased either through a lump sum payment or on a pre-funded basis. The policies available differ considerably, so it is important to check the details.

Planning to survive a critical illness

Article Abstract:

A number of UK insurance companies now offer critical illness insurance. This pays out a lump sum if the policyholder is diagnosed with any illness specified by the company. Such insurance is often offered as added protection for a mortgage, with the lump sum serving to clear the outstanding debt. At present, less than 2% of people have critical illness cover.
