I'm going back to my roots

Article Abstract:

It can be argued that a garden in which no vegetables are grown somehow lacks substance. Vegetables can make a garden extremely attractive, offering a wide range of colour and foliage. It is also worth considering growing herbs, which add many different fragrances to the garden. Some gardeners take an artistic approach to growing vegetables, combining them with interesting flowers, while others take a more scientific approach, placing strong emphasis on growing techniques.

Basics in the bedding department

Article Abstract:

It is important to give consideration to shape and foliage when choosing plants, rather than merely to flowers. There should be a balance in the garden between evergreens and deciduous plants and between plants that grow tall and those that provide ground cover. Flowers may be attractive temporarily, but foliage provides more long-term interest in the garden. It is therefore important to think beyond a plant's flowering period.
