Article Abstract:

Dr Margaret Harvey Bean-Bayog has been suspended from her clinical appointment at Harvard University after evidence emerged of a relationship between her and one of her patients who committed suicide. Paul Lozano was first referred to Dr Bean in 1986 when he was 23 and therapy continued for four years until being broken off. In April 1991 Paul killed himself with massive injections of anesthetics and cocaine. Letters in Dr Bean's hand clearly indicate a sexual relationship between them and she is being accused of sexual exploitation.

A 1992 meeting of intellectuals in Berlin included editor of Encounter Melvyn J Lasky, Gunther Schabowsky, Vladimir Bukovsky, Joachim Fest, Hugh Trevor-Roper, historian of Soviet politics Robert Conquest and editor of New Criterion Sam Lipman. They had dedicated their lives to fighting communism and now it was over they had little to discuss. Feminism, homosexual activism, racial disintegration, political correctness and petty nationalisms were considered. Sam Lipman alone mentioned an enemy of freedom: pop culture.
