Into the real world

Article Abstract:

Students may leave home to study, but they are still in need of parental support. They may initially feel lonely, or have doubts about their course choice. Parents may change bedroom arrangements, or divorce after their children leave to study, and this can have a damaging effect on the students who then feel a sense of not belonging anywhere. Parents can help with practical issues such as accommodation and insurance. Phone cards can also help students keep in touch with parents.
