Islamists' long wait for justice

Article Abstract:

The peace agreement between Israel and the Palestine Liberation Organisation (PLO) is not based on justice, and therefore will not be a permanent solution, according to Sheikh Bassam Jarrar, a teacher at Hebron University and a Hamas supporter who was exiled by Yitzhak Rabin to Marj el-Zehour in Lebanon in 1993. He believes that only the final stage of the negotiations will prove whether the peace is a trick or a reality. The forthcoming Palestinian elections will not satisfy the Islamic movement, which sees them as a form of blackmail.

Arabs who want peace say Israel must face its own fundamentalists

Article Abstract:

The assassination of Israeli prime minister Yitzhak Rabin by a fellow Israeli has prompted Arab observers to state that it is now time for Israel to acknowledge that it has its own 'terrorist' problem. Israel has always dealt very harshly with Arab terrorists, but has never been prepared to admit that some terrorism comes from within its own borders. The assassination will have a very negative impact on the Arab-Israeli peace process.

Five million Arabs who don't exist

Article Abstract:

The Palestine Liberation Organisation and Israel are expected to sign a peace agreement soon, but this is likely to have little real impact on the lives or ordinary Palestinian Arabs living in the West Bank and Gaza. Israel still refuses to recognise that these people exist, and Israeli forces still make attacks on Palestinian 'terrorists.' The whole peace process is now becoming overshadowed by an atmosphere of cynicis.
