It's time to check your investments

Article Abstract:

There are a number of questions that should be asked if you wish to check whether your stocks are being well managed. Attention should be given to how your investments compare with similar funds elsewhere, and checks should be made on investment managers' charges. It is also worth investigating the investment managers' philosophy for the funds you are investing in and details of sales and profitability. Investment managers should also be questioned about how the markets affect your investments.

Just how well do you know your manager?

Article Abstract:

Investors seeking to select a fund manager should consider a number of key issues. It is important to establish what the fund manager's charges are, and whether the fund manager has the right to adjust charges in falling markets. Attention must be given to the penalties if investments are switched or sold, and questions must also be asked about the fund manager's investment philosophy. It must also be established whether the fund manager has been consistently beaten by tracker funds.

You can't manage all alone

Article Abstract:

Those seeking to select a fund manager should focus on consistently good performance, rather than short-term gain. It is worth taking advice from a good independent financial adviser who specializes in investments, and it may also be worth obtaining information from a range of sources, including business and money pages in newspapers and the Internet. When considering the awards won by various fund managers, look at awards for underlying investment management ability.
