Knocking their spots off

Article Abstract:

Women still have to constantly make difficult decisions about their personal life and their career, according to playwright Wendy Wasserstein, who writes about many issues of significance for women. She has been extremely successful in the US, but the reaction of British critics has been more mixed. She is currently involved in a revival of her play 'The Heidi Chronicles' at the Greenwich Theatre, London, England.

New dawn in the West

Article Abstract:

Theatre in London's West End has been criticised widely over recent years, with complaints about the lack of parking spaces, high ticket prices and poor quality programmes. However, it should be acknowledged that the actual productions are still diverse and exciting. The West End will inevitably always be volatile and unpredictable, but it does seem to have good prospects.

One man. Or one woman. An audience. That's theatre?

Article Abstract:

A one-man show can be extremely good, but this format is generally regarded as inferior by both audiences and actors. Such shows are only really successful if they can explore fictional or ordinary lives, as is the case with Alan Bennett's monologues. It is important to establish very close links with the audience, but to do so without any apparent effort.
