Krajina Serbs put trust in the UN for protection

Article Abstract:

The United Nations camp at Knin now holds 780 Serbs, many of whom are uncertain whether to trust the United Nations to protect them. They fear that they will be abandoned by the United Nations, leaving them at risk of being slaughtered by Croat forces which have taken over the Krajina region. More and more people are seeking United Nations assistance, and the situation is becoming increasingly confused as people remain unaware of what is happening outside Krajina.

Zagreb ensures Serbs will never see their homes again

Article Abstract:

The Croatian government has stated that all the more than 200,000 Serbs who fled from their homes following the Croatian invasion of Krajina in Aug 1995 may return if they wish to do so. However, in practice this is most unlikely, as almost all Serb villages have been destroyed by Croatian troops. Returning Serbs will have to live under a new 'temporary management of abandoned property' law, which gives the Croatian government control of their property.
