Kyra Nijinsky

Article Abstract:

Dancer Kyra Nijinsky was the daughter of dancer Vaslav Nijinsky. She was obsessed by her father, and was determined to become a dancer. She danced in Offenbach's 'Tales of Hoffman' in Berlin, Germany, in 1931, and subsequently moved to London, England, where she studied under Nicolai Legat. She performed with the Rambert Ballet during the 1934 to 1935 season, taking the central role in 'Mephisto Valse.' She did not have a strong technique, but had considerable presence on stage.

Sonia Arova

Ballerina, teacher and ballet director Sonia Arova was born in Sofia, Bulgaria, in 1926. She began studying ballet in Paris, France, at an early age, and made her professional debut in 1942 with Mona Inglesby's International Ballet.

Tanaquil Le Clercq

Article Abstract:

Ballerina Tanaquil Le Clercq was born in Paris, France, in 1929. She gained a scholarship at the School of American Ballet in 1941, and danced at the launch of Ballet Society at the age of 17.
