LA racial tensions flare over 'tag killing.' (Latinos protest against failure to press charges against white man who killed a Latino youth)

Article Abstract:

Latinos in Los Angeles are protesting strongly against the decision by the Los Angeles District Attorney's Office not to bring charges for any serious offence against William Masters, a white man who shot dead an unarmed Latino youth. The city's whites have mainly seen Masters as a hero, as he took action against graffiti vandals, or 'taggers,' who deface many of the city's buildings and freeways. The authorities have decided that he was acting in self-defence, but this has angered the city's Latino activists.

America slams its doors

Article Abstract:

Many Americans are now coming to see the large numbers of illegal immigrants who enter the country from Mexico as dangerous and threatening, and believe that they should not be allowed to remain in the country. In some areas, there is now a very aggressive policy towards immigration, with many more immigration officials and police patrolling border crossing points. There are now 3.4 million undocumented immigrants in the US, and this is putting a great strain on the social security system.
