BAe floundering into the future

Article Abstract:

British Aerospace (BAe) is losing money and its share price has plummeted. The company is seeking a new finance director and has for some time been trying fill its vacancy for a new chairman. Many potential candidates have declined the position, supposedly because they are unhappy at the prospect of working with the present management. BAe's principal areas of business, cars, property, defence and aircraft, are all sectors which are in decline. Also affecting its share price is a potential, highly lucrative contract with Saudi Arabia which remains unconfirmed.

Who's afraid of Tony Blair?

Article Abstract:

Business leaders in the UK are concerned about the possibility of the Labour party winning the next general election. They feel that they know very little about the party's real policies for business, and are uncertain about whether the party would be able to stick to its promise of basing economic growth on saving and investment once it actually became the party of government. Some feel that businesses would be better off if a Conservative government were re-elected.
