Exiles the world forgot bemoan fate

Article Abstract:

The 395 Palestinians deported to southern Lebanon by the Israelis on Dec 17, 1993 remain almost forgotten. They claim that Israel has got away with implementing UN resolution 799 which demanded their immediate return, proving that the UN is ineffective and monopolised by the US. Only 19 deportees were returned to Israel in Feb 1993. It is expected that 120 deportees will be accepted by Israel in Aug 1993, 260 on Sep 17, 1993 and the remaining ones on Dec 17, 1993.

Arafat funds his forgotten refugees

Article Abstract:

Palestinian organizations in Lebanon are beginning to receive financial assistance once more from Yasser Arafat, who was regarded by the 400,000 Palestinians living in Lebanon as having betrayed them when he signed the Oslo agreement with Israel in 1993. Palestinian Liberation Organization officials are now trying to revive Palestinian trade unions loyal to Arafat in Lebanon, while women's congresses are also being restarted. Arafat's picture is being displayed again in Palestinian refugee camps in Lebanon.
