Let us now praise the surprising success of multicultural Britain

Article Abstract:

It is clear that serious racial injustices still take place in the UK, but this should not allow attention to be diverted from the fact that significant progress has also been made in creating a truly multicultural society. Indeed, the UK has become one of the most dynamic multicultural societies in western Europe. Attention should be drawn to radical injustices, but equal attention should be given to cases where blacks and Asians have shown themselves worthy of particular merit.

A Muslim Yule shows New Britain at its best

Article Abstract:

It is becoming increasingly common for British Asians to celebrate Christmas. This seems to be because they have become more confident about their presence and their identity. They are clear about who they are, and therefore do not feel the need to defend their culture by rejecting Christmas. It is now time for the UK's political leaders to realize that diversity, not uniformity, is the best way forward. This approach is already being adopted in immigrant communities.
