Like putty in his hands

Article Abstract:

The Queen's Gallery in London, England, is showing drawings from the Royal Collection under the title 'Michelangelo and His Influence.' The exhibition contains sketches, anatomical studies and finished presentation pieces by Michelangelo himself, along with copies and variations by his contemporaries and followers. The drawings give a clear impression of Michelangelo's belief that he could use his art exactly as he wished. They also show his deep interest in the constructability and malleableness of the human body.

Line 'em up

Article Abstract:

The Royal Academy in London, England, is currently staging an exhibition entitled 'The Berlin of George Grosz.' This focuses on his satirical drawings during the period 1912-1930, and shows many different aspects of his vision. Most significantly, these drawings indicate a clear contrast between his outrage at developments in Germany at that time and his elegant, economical approach. They have great clarity and immediacy, and show how Grosz was able to get energy into even a simple straight line.
