MPs back Earl's call to liberate Princes

Article Abstract:

Earl Spencer, brother of the late Diana, Princess of Wales, made a strong attack on the Royal Family during his address at her funeral. He stated that Princes William and Harry should be protected from the media intrusion which made her life so difficult, and expressed the belief that the Princes should not be brought up by the Royal Family alone. There is widespread agreement among Labour and Conservative MPs that the parenting style adopted by Diana, Princess of Wales, should be continued by the Spencer side of the family.

Angry MPs to ask Mandelson why he won't speak to the Commons

Article Abstract:

UK Minister without Portfolio Peter Mandelson is coming under growing pressure from MPs to explain why he is not more accountable to them. The Public Administration Committee is also addressing this issue, and has requested Mandelson to explain why he did not give full answers to questions from Liberal Democrat MP Norman Baker. If the committee is not satisfied with Mandelson's answer, then a full inquiry could be set up. The Code of Practice on Access to Government calls for ministers to be as open as possible.
