Major fury at 'lectures' from Blair

Article Abstract:

UK Labour party leader Tony Blair has attributed the current splits in society to the Conservative government. This has been strongly rejected by prime minister John Major, who in turn claimed that the Labour party has supported many causes which have undermined the UK's traditional way of life. He attributed problems in society to poor-performing Labour local authorities. Tony Blair has responded by stating that the government has a very poor record on health, education, the economy and crime.

Pastries, punks and pep talks ... on the road with Tony, John and Paddy

Article Abstract:

The UK Conservative and Labour parties and the Liberal Democrats are each taking a distinctive approach to campaigning in the run-up to the forthcoming general election. The Labour party's campaigning seems rather empty, with most events being carefully stage-managed. Prime Minister John Major has shown that he is not afraid to face criticism on the streets, and has issued many challenges to Tony Blair. Liberal Democrat leader Paddy Ashdown has focused on being accessible and approachable.

Why Blair will soon invite Ashdown into the Cabinet

Article Abstract:

UK Prime Minister Tony Blair is probably keen to bring together all the anti-Conservative forces in UK politics while he is still in a strong position. It is likely that this will include offering Cabinet posts to Liberal Democrat leader Paddy Ashdown and a small number of his colleagues in the reasonably near future. Such a move would be consistent with the type of radicalism that Blair has already demonstrated, including substantial changes to the welfare system.
