Opera is a very attractive musical form, according to composer Sir Peter Maxwell Davies. However, he finds it extremely frustrating when opera directors impose their own ideas on his music. He remains very committed to music education, and emphasizes that music should be a social and communal activity. He has reservations about electronic instruments, as they lack the feel of traditional ones. He composes very extensively, but points out that this is simply the result of extremely hard work.
