Men being emasculated by toiletries
Article Abstract:
Concern has been expressed that male sperm counts are being impacted by chemicals which are employed as preservatives called parabens in a number of toiletries, including deodorants and skin creams. Scientists say that parabens soak through the skin during pregnancy and when in the womb may become a female hormone, this may affect the typical evolution of a male foetus and ultimately cause fertility problems. In the UK, Brunel University's Professor John Sumpter said that the findings were important in that the cosmetics industry has been using parabens for many years. Research gauged the oestrogenic activity of the preservatives using an in vivo and in vitro test, carried out on laboratory rates and genetically engineered yeast respectively. The findings could demonstrate part of the reason why reproductive disorders such as testicular cancer have risen together with a 50% fall in sperm counts over the past 50 years.

The darkness that has brought humanity light
Article Abstract:
There is some evidence indicating that depression is becoming more common. This is possibly because doctors now recognize depression more readily than in the past, but may also be the result of the rise in divorce and the subsequent collapse of family life. Depression can often result from the severance of emotional ties, but it is clear that some people are much more prone to depression than others. Effective antidepressants play a valuable role in treatment, but all those who suffer depression must be able to understand what factors may prompt a further attack and what can be done to prevent this.
