Article Abstract:

There are a range of attractive employment opportunities within the European Union for talented linguists. A number of higher education institutions in the UK are offering courses designed to introduce students to the translating and interpreting skills they will require to work as linguists. The University of Westminster, for example, has an MA in bilingual translation, along with a postgraduate course aimed at prospective professional interpreters. Anglia Polytechnic University offers an MA in European language and intercultural studies, while Lancaster University has a flexible MA in modern languages research.

Taste of Scotch life a heady experience

Article Abstract:

There are 22 institutions of higher education in Scotland, of which 13 are universities. They benefit from easy access to beautiful countryside, and some are also in attractive city settings. Glasgow, Scotland, has seven institutions of higher education alone, of which four are universities, along with 12 further education colleges. There are 50,000 students in Edinburgh, Scotland, out of a population of 421,000. The city has a total of seven higher education institutions, along with four further education colleges.

Why terror won't stop the students

Article Abstract:

UK universities report that the number of overseas students arriving to begin the 2001 to 2002 academic year has not fallen significantly as a result of the terrorist attacks in the US. It seems that students are determined that terrorist will not disrupt their educational and career plans.
