Mink. The four-letter word striking fear into the heart of Hampshire

Article Abstract:

Animal welfare militants have released up to 5,000 mink from a fur farm near Ringwood, England. There is great concern about the impact the mink will have on the local wild animal population, as well as on domestic animals. Mink seem appealing, but are in fact extremely aggressive animals. They attack animals larger than them, and are very agile, being able to swim and climb. Local farmers are patrolling their fields, and are shooting any mink they see in order to protect their livestock.

US lesbians come out to play. UK ones don't even come out

Article Abstract:

Gay culture is becoming increasingly firmly established in mainstream society in the UK. However, significant advances have only really been made by gay men, and lesbians are still largely ignored. They are still regarded in very stereotypical ways, and find it extremely difficult to publicly acknowledge their sexual orientation. It is likely that lesbians will continue to be stereotyped until they become as common in public life as gay men.

Child abusers: treat them young and stop the cycle

Article Abstract:

It is becoming increasingly widely recognized in the UK that taking action to change the behaviour of children who abuse other children can play a key role in reducing the number of adults who abuse children. Abusive behaviour cannot usually be halted in adults, but it is sometimes possible to retrain children away from abusing other children. This approach is expensive, but will bring financial and social benefits in the longer term.
