Mushroom pickers get a code of conduct
Article Abstract:
English Nature has published a 30-point code of conduct for pickers of wild mushrooms. This is designed to ensure that woodlands and wildlife do not suffer further damage as a result of the growing popularity of wild mushrooms. The code calls on wild mushroom pickers to damage vegetation as little as possible, to take no more than required for personal consumption and to avoid picking rare species. It also warns that some mushrooms are poisonous, and advises picking as part of an organized mushroom-gathering expedition.
