From high life to low life: downfall of a wayward son of the Thatcher generation

Article Abstract:

Terry Ramsden came from a humble background, but became very wealthy in the early 1980s through trading in Japanese bonds. He became an archetypal self-made 1980s man, seeing particular success with Glen International, which he purchased in 1984. He adopted a very flamboyant lifestyle, and his possessions included an executive jet and Rolls-Royces. However, the value of his securities declined dramatically following the 1987 stock market crash, and he made large losses through gambling. He was declared bankrupt in Mar 1992, but failed to disclose all his assets. He has now been jailed for 21 months.
