The shocking truth about Labour's plans for their Lordships

Article Abstract:

The UK Labour party is set to recommend that the House of Lords is replaced with a second chamber with strictly limited powers. The members of this chamber would be nominated by regional assemblies, political parties, devolved bodies and others, but the nominations would be scrutinized by an independent appointments commission responsible for ensuring an appropriate level of gender, ethnic and regional mix. The Labour party is currently running an effective dictatorship, and for this reason it is necessary to have a strong second chamber which is largely elected.
