Nagaharu Yodogawa

Film critic Nagaharu Yodogawa began work as a journalist for the magazine Eiga Sekai (Movie World) after graduating from high school in Kobe, Japan. He subsequently worked in the advertising department of branches of United Artists in Osaka, Japan, and Tokyo, Japan. Following the second world war, he became Chief Editor of Eiga no Tomo (Film Friend), and held this position for 20 years. He then turned freelance, appearing on radio and television and writing columns and books.

F. Maurice Speed
Article Abstract:
Editor and film critic F. Maurice Speed gained his first real job in journalism as assistant to Edward Martell, owner of The Sunday Referee. He became creator, editor and chief writer for What's On In London, the first really successful listings magazine. He conceived the Film Review series during the second world war, and it was first published in late 1944. He contributed freelance film reviews to What's On from 1982.

Poet and film critic John Coleman was born in London, England, in 1927. He studied at Cambridge University, England, and was film critic of the New Statesman for more than 25 years.
