New idea for a cop show? No, it's been nicked

Article Abstract:

The Independent Television Commission (ITC) has recently criticised programmers for relying too heavily on police series with old-fashioned formats and uninspired plots. However, police drama remains extremely popular with audiences, and programmers are reluctant to trying anything different. There are different styles of police drama, and these tend to come and go in cycles. At present, there seems to be a return to a simple style which is much less agonised than that seen in recent series.
