Clear and present danger

Article Abstract:

The murder of Frank Moreno, an agent of the United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), in Bogota, Colombia, seemed to have no connection with drugs, even though he had posed as a drug dealer and been instrumental in the capture of several middlemen. It appears that he was shot following an argument in the El Divino nightclub, where he had gone to admire the motorbikes parked outside. However, it is also possible that he was a victim of the conflict between the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia and the DEA.

Doctors, the enemies of hope

Article Abstract:

Doctors who have to tell patients they have terminal cancer could improve their manner as kindly encouragement is psychologically comforting. They are often aggressive and discourteous. They appear threatened when confronted by a disease which they cannot treat. When patients are determined to cure themselves, doctors should encourage their beliefs. Conviction in the value of certain treatments can make the patient's immune system defeat the cancer.
