Heard and not seen

Article Abstract:

The BBC has a number of announcers whose name and voice are extremely familiar to many Britons. However, it is rare for an insight to be gained into the personality of an individual announcer. Being an announcer can be a very challenging task, as it is vital to sound authoritative and in control at all times. This can be difficult if there are very unusual names to announce, for example. Some announcers prefer anonymity, while others would be interested in a more high-profile role in broadcasting.

Is this the family of the future?

Article Abstract:

It is likely that there will be a shift towards multi-generational households in the UK as life expectancy increases, disposable incomes fail to rise or even decline and residential care and child care become more expensive. There can be problems initially when different generations live in the same house, but there can also be significant advantages, as responsibilities are shared. In some cases, it may prove too difficult to effectively balance the needs of different generations.
