Nice little earner

Article Abstract:

New Barclays Bank Chief Executive Mike O'Neill will face a number of very significant challenges. Most importantly, he will have to address the bank's long-term future. Some observers believe that Barclays will not survive as an independent business for much longer, but O'Neill has ruled out a rapid merger, even though it is known that discussions have taken place. It is likely that he will have to consider reorganizing the bank's personal banking operations, and will have to address problems at investment banking division Barclays Capital.

Comment:

Has reported that its new chief executive officer Mike O'Neill will avoid quick mergers

The giant of banking

Article Abstract:

It is important to learn from your own mistakes and from those of others, according to Lloyds TSB Chmn Sir Brian Pitman. Indeed, he feels that it is possible to learn as much from a poor manager as from a good one. He believes that an acquisition will only be successful if it offers benefits for both sides, both financially and for the people involved. He feels that he became extremely self-reliant because his father died when he was only nine weeks old.
