No tattoos, please, and I'll skip the nose ring too

Article Abstract:

Experiences of returning to university as a mature student after working as a journalist for 25 years are described. Amusing and embarrassing incidents associated with trying to fit in with younger students are highlighted. Attention is given to the challenges facing higher education establishments in the modern world, and comments are made about the willingness of students to assist their disabled colleagues. Examples of ways in which mature students expect value for money from their tuition fees are discussed.

A subject that isn't only for the girls

Article Abstract:

Cambridge University research shows that schools do not provide adequate facilities for schoolgirls who menstruate. Teachers are unhelpful and male fellow-pupils harass and tease girls. Some girls do not know anything about menstruation and personal, social and sex education (PSE) lessons provide little information. Half of those surveyed miss school completely for two days a month. Sixty percent take painkillers.
