One at a time, children

Article Abstract:

The best interval between pregnancies in terms of avoiding negative perinatal events such as pre-term delivery is between 18 and 23 months, according to research undertaken by the Michigan Dept of Community Health. Psychologists believe that a birth spacing of at least two years could be preferable if the children are to be ensured of a healthy psychological life. Research undertaken at Indiana University indicates that the negative impact of spacing is a factor separate from socio-economic status.

Today you're bored. Tomorrow you're ill

Article Abstract:

Research investigates boredom as a pathological condition. It may be related to social problems such as youth violence and risk-taking behaviour. Boredom is a characteristic of people or personalitie, which runs in families. It decreases with age. Differences in brain activity show some people are easily distracted and some concentrate well. Boredom is the lack of any impulse, when people find no reason to do anything at all. Adrenalin levels double during boring work because of the frustration.

Let's play happy families

Article Abstract:

Television and film actor Ayub Khan-Din drew heavily on his own family background when writing his play 'East Is East.' This was performed in 1996 at the Royal Court's Theatre Upstairs, and is shortly to open at the Duke of York's theatre in London, England. The play portrays relationships which seem extremely real, and it easy for the audience to forget that this is only a play. It has true cross-cultural appeal, portraying a dysfunctional mixed-race family.
