The contact lens market rose by 21% from 139 million pounds sterling in 1992 to 200 million pounds sterling in 1997. The contact lens solution market increased by 52% from 90 million pounds sterling in 1992 to 137 million pounds sterling in 1997. Spectacle sales fell from 82.97 million pound sterling in 1992 to 73.35 million pounds sterling in 1997.
