Nato is not likely to play a key role in organizing large-scale retaliation against those believed to be responsible for the terrorist attacks in the US. Instead, it will probably focus on a long-term policy of coordinating information about terrorism and isolating states that support terrorists.

EU official says 'US to blame' for terror attacks

A spokesman for European Commissioner for Development Poul Neilson has denied that he made a connection between US dominance and the terrorist attacks there. This controversy has arisen as efforts are being made to create the first European Union-wide anti-terrorist unit.
