Politicians rush to court Hispanic vote

Article Abstract:

The US has made very little progress so far with addressing the implications of the significant demographic shift which will see hispanics, the most rapidly expanding ethnic minority in the US, overtake blacks in number by 2005. However, business and politics are beginning to acknowledge the Hispanization of the US. Manufacturers and retailers are looking to establish a strong presence in the flourishing Hispanic market, while politicians acknowledge that the Hispanic constituency will be vital as early as the next presidential election.

Where the TGV had its slow origins

Article Abstract:

The first railway in France began at the small town of Andrezieux, which is now on the outskirts of St Etienne. This railway was 21km long, and began operating in Jun 1827. Nowadays, the station there is very neglected, and only a few trains pass through it. The town grew up around transport, but is now entirely based on road and air connections. Even in St Etienne, rail services are declining, with two of its five stations having been shut down.
