Portrait of the artist as a young man (going on sixty)

Article Abstract:

The Dulwich Picture Gallery in London, England, is currently staging an exhibition of the works of artist Tom Phillips entitled 'Drawing to a Conclusion.' This exhibition has a retrospective atmosphere, covering 20 years of Phillips' work, mainly that undertaken on paper. However, there is also a strong sense that his work is still very much in progress. This is reflected in the fact that the catalogue, which is shared with the 'Sacred and Profane' exhibition that was held at the South London Gallery, ends in mid-sentence.

Shock of the old

Article Abstract:

The Martin-Gropius-Bau in Berlin, Germany, is currently staging an exhibition entitled 'The Age of Modernism: Art in the 20th Century.' This covers more than 400 works of art by 130 artists, and traces the history of Modernism from 1907. The works are broadly divided into four themes, and each section could be an exhibition in its own right. Some well-known Modernist pieces are on display, but there is also considerable interest in the less well-known works.
