Crime experts believe that many Albanians will become involved in exporting weapons to western Europe and beyond as the country descends into chaos. Rather than become refugees and face a very uncertain future outside their country, they will begin dealing in weapons. These will be sold abroad through mafia networks, and may also circulate in the Balkans, serving to fuel regional conflict there. There have already been a number of raids on army depots in Albania.
