Pythagoras, Da Vinci, Hitler and Colin Spencer

Article Abstract:

Colin Spencer researched the history of vegetarianism for his book 'The Heretic's Feast.' He found that most heretical societies favoured vegetarianism. Pythagoras did not eat meat because he believed in the transmigration of souls. Leonardo da Vinci was a vegetarian because of his beliefs, but the fact is ignored in most biographies as it is often considered unimportant. Spencer was divorced because of his homosexuality but after 14 years with his homosexual partner he went to live with American cookery writer Claire Clifton.

When doctors told Colin Betts that his father would pass away peacefully if they detached his drip, he gave his consent. It took two weeks of agony for him to die

Article Abstract:

Removing a fluid drip which is keeping alive a person who has no hope of making a recovery can be the best way to allow that person to die peacefully and quickly. However, in certain cases it can take much longer for the person to die than doctors anticipated. During that time, the relatives of the dying person go through great distress as they witness a slow, painful death. The relatives naturally trust the doctor's decision, and feel very let down when they find that death does not take place peacefully and quickly.
