Rolls US jet rival to take stake in Airbus engine

Article Abstract:

Hamilton Standard, the US aero-engine manufacturer and part of the US United Technologies Corporation which owns Pratt & Whitney has taken a 24% stake in Rolls-Royce's Trent 500 jet engine, which will be installed in the new Airbus A340. This is the first time that a US rival has made such a move, although Rolls is working with Pratt & Whitney on the international V2500 engine project. The other risk and revenue sharing partners include Lucas Aerospace, Italy's FiatAvio, Spain's ITP and Marubeni, and Japan's Kawasaki Heavy Industries.

UK: RR WINS GB[pound] 25MN HELICOPTER DEAL

Article Abstract:

Rolls-Royce, the aero-engine group, has won its share of a US$ 230mn helicopter engine deal to supply 1,000 MTR 390 engines to the French and German armed forces. RR's share of the initial order is worth GB[pound] 25mn. Deliveries of helicopters will take place between 2000 and 2001.

IRELAND: LUFTHANSA AIRMOTIVE WINS RYANAIR DEAL

Article Abstract:

Lufthansa Airmotive Ireland has won a contract to maintain engines on the Boeing 737 aircraft operated by Ryanair, the discount airline. The deal is worth GB[pound] 62mn over 10 years. Ryanair is adding 45 737s over the next four years, with five already delivered.
