She's kept her head above water

Article Abstract:

Sharron Davies, swimmer, came 19th in the Munich Olympics in 1976 and won a silver medal at the Moscow Olympics in 1980 but retired when the Amateur Swimming Association reprimanded her for appearing on television, although not for payment. In 1988 she made a comeback but failed to qualify for the 1991 World Championships. Extra training has gained her qualification for the Barcelona Olympics in 1992 at the age of 29, making her a rare three-decade Olympic competitor. Sponsorship and endorsement money enable swimmers to continue training.
