So, jobs aren't for life. But can I take my pension with me?

Article Abstract:

It can be difficult to decide what to do with an occupational pension scheme, which will generally offer very attractive benefits, if you change job. The benefits will be held in trust, so as long as the scheme is insured, changing job will not bring any financial disadvantages. If the new employer offers an occupational pension scheme, then it is worth joining it. It will be necessary to seek advice on whether to transfer the old pension into the new scheme or leave it where it is, taking deferred benefits at retirement.
