Afghanistan's fragile food lifeline opens again

Article Abstract:

Emergency food supplies are beginning to enter Afghanistan again after deliveries were suspended following the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Centre and the Pentagon. There are now many displaced people in Afghanistan, and the United Nations' World Food Programme must find the most direct ways to get supplies to them.

Alarm over aid drop in 'world's biggest minefield.'

Aid workers have expressed concern about the US's decision to distribute food aid in Afghanistan by air. They feel that distributing aid in this way is too random and may encourage people to enter very dangerous areas, especially minefields.
