Suicide blast buries last peace hopes under the rubble of Tel Aviv

Article Abstract:

Islamic militant organisation Hamas has claimed responsibility for a suicide bomb attack in Tel Aviv, Israel, in which two people were killed and 47 wounded. The attack has come shortly after Israel began to construct a Jewish settlement at Har Homa in east Jerusalem. It seems that there is now little hope of a peace agreement being reached between Israel and the Palestinians. There has also been confrontation between Israelis and Palestinians in Hebron, Palestine.

Bus stop bombers kill 19 in Israel

Article Abstract:

Two bombs left in a crowded snack bar at Beit Lid in central Israel by Palestinian suicide bombers have killed 19 people and injured 62. The incident will inevitably have a damaging effect on negotiations between the Palestine Liberation Organisation (PLO) and Israel, which have already encountered difficulties. Israeli prime minister Yitzhak Rabin, whose popularity was already declining, will be particularly badly affected.

Bomb attacks expose Rabin's desperation

Article Abstract:

Two bombs which exploded in a snack bar at Beit Lid, on Israel's main north-south road, killed 19 people, mainly soldiers, and injured 62. Islamic Jihad has said that the bombings were undertaken by suicide bombers. The frequent bombings are putting increasing pressure on Israeli prime minister Yitzhak Rabin, who has shown that he does not now how to respond effectively to the security threat.
