Sweden's 'A-child' bows out

The possibility of an official investigation being launched in Sweden into the repeated misuse by deputy prime minister Mona Sahlin of her government credit cards could put an end to her political career. It is claimed that she borrowed taxpayer funds to make private purchases, that she has tax debts and that she has been pursued by bailiffs for late payment of private credit card debts. Many Swedish people now believe that she is not fit to become prime minister, a position which she seemed very likely to reach.

West ponders symbolic gesture to Bosnia

Article Abstract:

Western allies agreed to enforce the no-fly zone in Bosnia-Herzegovina as a token of action, but realised it would not be effective. The Conference on Security and Co-operation in Europe (CSCE) in Stockholm considered stopping the arms embargo. Bosnian official Radovan Karadzic wrote to British Prime Minister John Major saying that if the flight ban were enforced UN forces would be attacked.
