Technology set to show its strength in currency debate

Article Abstract:

Technological developments are playing a key role in ensuring that currencies will in the future not be so large a barrier to international movements of trade and finance. The transaction cost of electronic sales is set to fall dramatically as retailers gain experience of handling micro-payments, for example, and it will not be long before card transactions are significantly quicker than cash ones. Technology will also make pricing more transparent, thus putting pressure on producers not to charge excessive prices.

Small businesses are important creators of employment in the UK, according to a recent report from the DTI.
