The right to leave a living death

Article Abstract:

People who live to a very advanced age can offer suffer many problems. They are frequently in pain, and many are lonely. They must often live out the end of their life in characterless old people's homes, and frequently suffer from depression. Modern British society has adopted an attitude which prefers to ignore the plight of the elderly. Against this background, it is worth considering signing a 'living will,' which prevents doctors from keeping the person concerned alive with unnecessary medical interventions.

No more living in sin, and that's official

Article Abstract:

The Church of England's recent report on the family is likely to attract criticism from some members of the government and of the Synod. It calls on the government to improve social security for the poorest families, and to make changes in areas including employment conditions for parents, social services and education. Its approach to the family is extremely liberal, welcoming families of all kinds, not just those structured along traditional lines.

A model of an absent father

Article Abstract:

Prince Philip had a hard childhood, experiencing little affection from his parents. He was not encouraged to discuss his feelings, and was often separated from his family. The attitudes which he developed at an early age have remained with him ever since. He has been a largely absent father, and many observers believe that he has continually bullied his children.
