The memories of a lifetime

Article Abstract:

Experts are more sensitive than they were in the past to the suffering of children who experience traumas and their sensitivity to post-traumatic stress disorder. It is now realised that children can be affected by situations, despite the fact that they are unable to express clearly what has occurred or to correlate events. According to Dr. Dora Black, consultant psychiatrist, children need to have the memory of traumatic experiences transferred to their long-term memory to help them come to terms with events.

A nose for a bargain? Go private

Article Abstract:

Selecting the best private medical care in the UK can be an extremely complicated process. Some private hospitals are very unwilling to reveal the full extent of their fees in advance, and patients can be faced with unexpectedly large bills. It is worth obtaining quotes from a number of different hospitals, and ensuring that the package quoted is all-inclusive. People who enter the private medical care sector must become accustomed to behaving like consumers, rather than patients.

Do your teeth hurt yet?

Article Abstract:

Many dentists are now no longer taking new NHS fee-paying patients, and will only treat children or people on income support or family credit under the NHS. Other patients will be obliged to pay for their treatment at private rates. Dentists have deregistered more than 800,000 adult and child patients over the last four years, and the number of people obtaining some or all of their treatment privately has almost doubled over the past two years.
