The American airman, his Russian wife, her lover the British diplomat and the story scandalising Brussels

Article Abstract:

There has been considerable talk in international circles in Brussels, Belgium, about the relationship between Michael Emerson, the European Union's former ambassador to Russia, and Russian-born Elena Prokhorova, the wife of former US fighter pilot Marshall Michel. It has been claimed that Emerson abused his position as ambassador to Moscow and his knowledge about European Union aid schemes to establish business operations in Russia, assisted by Ms Prokhorova. She has rejected claims that she has been connected with the KGB or Russian Mafia.

Sex: an employee's guide

Article Abstract:

There are still problems with sexual harassment in UK companies, but in general employers are becoming more aware of the need to protect their staff from sexual harassment. The main problem in dealing with sexual harassment is that it is very difficult to define exactly what constitutes inappropriate behaviour, as people's standards vary greatly. Furthermore, companies can find it very difficult to strike a balance between protecting employees, both male and female, and going too far in regulating their employees' behaviour.

When a colleague becomes a lover

Article Abstract:

Relationships between work colleagues are common, but it is wise to treat such relationships with caution, as a bitter end to the relationship could cause considerable difficulties. It is important to treat the colleague with tact and consideration, and to be very discreet about the relationship. If the relationship fails, the reasons for this should not be discussed with other colleagues, and care should be taken to end the relationship promptly if it is not working well.
