The afterlife of Kingsley Amis

Article Abstract:

Media coverage of the work of author Kingsley Amis, who died recently, has been extremely positive. This is in sharp contrast to the very critical reaction to his last work, 'The Biographer's Moustache.' It is important to look more critically at his standing as a novelist, and to consider whether he perhaps failed to fulfil his real potential. It is possible that in the future he may only be remembered for 'Lucky Jim,' his first novel.

Whose war is this anyway?

Article Abstract:

Newspaper columnists in the UK seem to be strongly in favour of the US and its allies taking military action against Afghanistan in retaliation for the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Centre and the Pentagon. They are glorifying war and exaggerating the extent of the military power being assembled against Afghanistan.
